In hilly terrain at 150 meters a.s.l., approximately four hectares of the estate are set aside for vineyards; other areas are devoted to the cultivation of grain and olive oil, in the classic tuscan tradition.

The vineyards enjoy a sunny south/southeast exposure. The soil, derived from marl, is mostly calcareous and rich in iron and aluminium oxides. Its composition is sandy loam with even granulometry, containing a considerable amount of silt and clay in the intermediate layers. Rich in organic substances, it has well-balanced amounts of potassium and phosphorus, essential elements for healthy grapevines. Calcium dominates the exchange complex, with an average concentration of the other minerals. The capacity for cationic exchange is excellent.
